It's reported that as recent as 1987, women have been coerced, threatened, and forced to give up their newborns for adoption. Cases have been filed around the globe accusing doctors and churches of kidnapping, fraud, and coercion to force unwed mothers to give up their babies for adoption.  One nun in Spain is accused of trafficking over 1500 newborns over the course of four decades.  Apparently, young women having premarital sex and having children out of wedlock is worse of a crime than stealing a child away from its mother.  How cruel and backwards is this?

A recent recall of Pfizer birth control pills was due to a packaging error that could leave many women with unwanted pregnancies.  Women are directed to check the lot number on their birth control packet and see if it is included on the recall (a list of all recalled lot numbers are in the body of Pfizer Press Release).  

Finally, on December 6, the FBI has expanded the outdated definition of rape. The new definition expands the old one by taking out the requirement of a "forcible" assault and the restriction that the attack must be toward a woman. It also now includes non-vaginal/penile rape and rape by a blood relative, reports Huffington Post.
